FYI #042690bm
There are drivers available on Netwire for the DEPCA board from
DEC. The file is named DEPCA.ZIP in library 17.
A DEPCA board is a NIC offered from DEC as an option for Decnet
DOS, (3Com boards are also supported). This is DEC's
connectivity solution for PCs called Personal Computer System
Architecture (PCSA). PCSA is given away with VMS V5.3 for the
host support. However, each workstation has to be licensed. Four
options for the ws are available:
1) DEPCA -AA $340.
Board Only
2) DEPCA -BA $447.
Board & 1 PC License
3) DEPCA -CA $512.
Board & 1 PC License
1 mouse
4) DEPCA -KA $765.
Board & 1 PC License
1 mouse, 1 Keyboard
This card used to be priced starting at $995 but with the increased
competition with NIC's is now available for $340. So really, it just means
another NIC that Netware supports.
The key about our driver is that it can co-exist with the DEC drivers.
This allows access to Decnet DOS and Netware simultaneously.
In addition for the sites that are migrating to Netware this
preserves their hardware investment.
